Okay, I found this article confusing. It was all over the place. What was the point(s); hurricanes come in "bunches", the atmosphere is getting warmer thus it can retain more water vapor, sea level is rising (a favorite bugaboo of the media since I was wee lad), social media & tropical systems, and/or even minor storms cause damage? What a mess.

Eh, I kinda think pre-season foecasts are underrated slightly. They're more often than not accurate.

As for the EPAC, the tricky part is predicting whether it is a quality over quantity seaosn or quantity over quality season.

All its saying is don't let the ten year lull of storms cause complacency. they can come in clusters one after another and then we might have a quiet period thinking we can let our guard down. Dont rely on forecasts to determine whether to keep our guard up or not because thats a poor predictor of whether we get hit or not we just never know. if we are always prepared every year, then when it does hit we will be ready.

I agree. Essentially what I got out of it is that we shouldn't be complacent just because our location may have had many below average year. However, that isn't a headline that is attention-grabbing enough, so the headline becomes "Researchers: Hurricanes come in bunches and could get stronger".
