Major Hurricane Days

#1 Postby AussieMark » Wed Sep 03, 2003 11:58 pm

Fabian has been a Major Hurricane since August 30 2100 UTC which is about 18 advisories.

Can someone answer these questions

Since people are comparing Fabian to Edouard of 1996 how much longer does Fabian have to equal Major Hurricane Status to equal the period that Edouard was a major hurricane status for.

What is the the record for the amount of days a hurricane spent at Major Hurricane Status

I don't have that research information readily handy at this time, but hopefully and I think there's a couple of people that may be able to find out that information for you.

Hurricane Edouard maintained its status as a major hurricane for seven days, a feat rarely attained by tropical systems in the Atlantic.

Found this at USA today weather history.

You can get the track info on any storm since 1851 here:

By the way, it looks like 7.5 days from 18Z Aug 24th to 06Z Sept 1:
