Here is the Short Term Forecast and Latest Forecast from the National Weather Service for the Tampa Bay area:

NOW...
THROUGH LATE AFTERNOON...BANDS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN, WITH
EMBEDDED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT LOCATIONS ALONG THE
GULF AND IMMEDIATE GULF COAST...AND BAY WATERS, BETWEEN BONITA
BEACH TO BAYPORT, AND OUT TO 20 MILES OFFSHORE. OTHER BANDS OF
ACTIVITY WILL MOVE EAST FROM THE OFFSHORE GULF FROM 40 TO 60 MILES
WEST OF CRYSTAL RIVER, SOUTH TO BETWEEN 20 AND 40 MILES WEST OF
TARPON SPRINGS AND SOUTH TO THE BEACHES AT ST PETERSBURG AND OUT
20 MILES. THE BANDS WILL MOVE EAST AT 15 MPH. OTHER HEAVIER
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP OVER INLAND LOCATIONS
BETWEEN BAYPORT AND DADE CITY SOUTH TO BETWEEN LAKE OKEECHOBEE
AND BONITA BEACH. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 3 INCHES HAVE FALLEN
WITHIN THE PAST 3 HOURS OVER THE SOUTHWESTERN PORTION OF THE
PENINSULA AND NEAR THE GULF BEACHES BETWEEN PINE ISLAND AND
VENICE. RESIDENTS FROM BONITA SPRINGS TO TARPON SPRINGS, AND EAST TO
BETWEEN PLANT CITY AND LAKE PLACID CAN ANTICIPATE ADDITIONAL RAINS OF
1 TO 3 INCHES THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE AFTERNOON. MARINERS CAN
ALSO EXPECT ROUGH GULF AND BAY WATERS, GUSTS TO 40 MPH, ALONG WITH
POSSIBLE WATERSPOUTS AND OCCASIONAL LIGHTNING WITH ANY OF THE
STRONGER THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY.


Today. Showers and isolated thunderstorms with locally heavy rain. Becoming breezy by afternoon. Highs in the lower 80s. South winds 10 to 15 mph becoming southwest and increasing to 15 to 25 mph with gusts to tropical storm force by late afternoon. Chance of rain 90 percent.

Tonight. Windy. Showers and isolated thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 70s. Southwest winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts to tropical storm force. Shifting to the west after midnight. Chance of rain 90 percent.

Saturday. Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. Highs in the mid 80s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent.

Saturday night. Partly cloudy. Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 70s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
