Tropical Disturbance in the SE Pacific (near S. America)

#1 Postby WaveBreaking » Mon Apr 07, 2025 5:26 pm

A rare, clockwise-spinning disturbance is currently sitting south of the equator just west of South America with deep convection and decent outflow. Similar to another disturbance from a few months ago and unofficial Cyclone Yaku from March 2023.

Euro analysis shows the system having an oblong, closed circulation under the convection. However, it’ll eventually succumb to shear and dry air itching the next day or so as it drifts north towards the ITCZ.
