NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
11 AM AST MON SEP 08 2003

...FOURTEENTH DEPRESSION OF THE SEASON FORMS IN THE FAR EASTERN
TROPICAL ATLANTIC...

AT 11 AM AST...1500Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION FOURTEEN
WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 11.8 NORTH...LONGITUDE 22.1 WEST OR
ABOUT 220 MILES...375 KM...SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF THE SOUTHERNMOST CAPE
VERDE ISLANDS.

THE DEPRESSION IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST NEAR 3 MPH... 6 KM/HR...
AND THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT 24
HOURS. DUE TO THE SLOW FORWARD SPEED...SOME ERRATIC MOTION IS
POSSIBLE...AND INTERESTS IN THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS SHOULD CLOSELY
MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS SYSTEM.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 35 MPH... 55 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. SOME SLOW STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24
HOURS....AND THE DEPRESSION COULD BECOME A TROPICAL STORM LATER
TODAY OR ON TUESDAY.

THE ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1007 MB...29.74 INCHES.

REPEATING THE 11 AM EDT POSITION...11.8 N... 22.1 W. MOVEMENT
TOWARD...WEST NEAR 3 MPH. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED
WINDS... 35 MPH. MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1007 MB.

THE NEXT ADVISORY WILL BE ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER
AT 5 PM AST.

its on the back burner for the next week at least..we have a developing situation wih isabel..you always watch the trends and the trend is west west and more west with northward component nowhere in sight
