...ISABEL STRENGTHENS INTO THE SECOND MAJOR HURRICANE OF THE YEAR...

AT 11 AM AST...1500Z...THE CENTER OF MAJOR HURRICANE ISABEL WAS
LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 17.2 NORTH...LONGITUDE 42.6 WEST OR ABOUT
1265 MILES...2040 KM...EAST OF THE LEEWARD ISLANDS.

ISABEL IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 14 MPH
...22 KM/HR...AND THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE
FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 115 MPH...185 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS...MAKING ISABEL A CATEGORY 3...MAJOR HURRICANE...ON THE SAFFIR
SIMPSON HURRICANE SCALE. ADDITIONAL STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST
DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS...AND ISABEL COULD BECOME A CATEGORY 4
HURRICANE LATER TODAY OR ON TUESDAY.

HURRICANE FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 35 MILES... 55 KM...
FROM THE CENTER...AND TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP
TO 115 MILES...185 KM.

THE ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 962 MB...28.41 INCHES.

REPEATING THE 11 AM AST POSITION...17.2 N... 42.6 W. MOVEMENT
TOWARD...WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 14 MPH. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED
WINDS...115 MPH. MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE... 962 MB.

what scares me is that it could be a cat. 4 before the end of today.

A cat 4 by the end of the day.. yea that would be scary.. Could it level off today as well.. as in stop its northern movement???

well from what I understand the track has shifted a little to the left so that makes it worse for the islands, way to close for comfort.

Cat 4 by the end of the day is certainly possible, if it keep intensifying as it has been. Isabel certainly means business!

Aparently not seems to be getting stronger

and if what what happened with Fabaian (difficulty in forcasting strength) repeats then don't be surprised if Isabelle reaches 150 mph at peak.
