Interesting Local Met Observations...

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Tue Sep 09, 2003 11:59 am

I just noticed something VERY interesting here on the local news here at the Noon hour.

Of the 3 major channels 2, 6, and 9.. Not 1 of the mets here even hinted to Isabel making a Northward turn..

They all said that they will be watching it very closely because she is very strong. Normally even this early the local mets are already on the Northward turn bandwagon.

Sign of things to come.. we shall see

TWC broad-brushed the possibility of an Isabel landfall from the Leeward Islands all the way up to NY. Nobody really seems sure about what to do with her.

Stephanie, I know this is off topic.. but I was watching another replay of 1 of the WTC shows on the History Channel last night..

Even though I live way down here in Florida, it still hurts everytime I see those videos..

Charleston_hugo_this storm is another Fabian. Won't even threaten CONUS, let alone hit. It's now at 20 n and still skyrocketing northwards. should be at 24 n and discounted as a threat by this time thursday.

As with all posts here and at other boards -- I hope everyone knows that these are not official forecasts and that you should always pay attention to your local emergency management officials and the NHC for the "official" forecast. Although some of our local emergency management personnel here in Galveston are sadly complacent.

I saw the Noon weather reports on Tuesday, too.

Channel 9's (WFTV-TV), Jamie Martin said word to this affect, "...a trough off the U.S. east coast will move Isabel a bit further north and then a ridge is expected to build and should turn "her" more westerly. It is something to keep our eyes on, but it isn't an immediate threat to us at this time."
