Just wanted to say hi to all. Just joined, and I must say that I am impressed. Lot's of good information.
I grew up here in Florida, not too far from where I reside now, and this storm is the first in many years that really has me concerned. I am not seeing much thus far to indicate a storm track away from the Central Florida area. Scary! Not to mention, with all the new folks that have moved into the area in recent years, I am not sure just how many folks would take this storm seriously. Many are lulled into a false sense of security being 20 or 30 miles inland that things will be fine. That thinking can be dangerous with a storm of this magnitude. I saw first hand the devastation Andrew caused, and the only reason the devastation was limited primarily to the coastal portion of Dade County was that once past the dike, there was only Everglades. Another thing we have against us is that we are waterlogged at this point. I can't imagine what might happen should the storm strike here, or even close by, and bring potentially devasting rains.
Anyway, I look forward to being a part of the board.
