HELP ME-I'M ADDICTED
You guys, I have a serious problem. I have been on this site most of the day today and it's now 6:30 P.D.T and I think I'll be on for a lot longer. My problem is that I'm even checking this site out constantly at my college. We have our own computers so internet use isn't monitored. I'm keeping pace with the rest of the class (I'm taking advanced medical transcription) but I worry I'm going to fall behind if Isabel looks to continually be a threat? Any suggestions on how I can break the addiction, and ANY ideas AT ALL what I should do so I don't fall behind in school if a cat 5 looks like it's DEFINITELY going to hit the U.S. I don't think I could concentrate. Suggestions welcome.

Step away from the computer. Hit Start and then shut down. And go to sleep or study.

Actually, it is an addiction. Just try not to let it interfere with your studies since you are clear across the country. Well, actually you're in British Columbia, Canada ... we'll keep you posted on the boards.

LOL me to
I think my husband is ready to divorce me. I am in here probably way to much, but I am obsessed with hurricanes and this site I can't help it.

Seriously, you have ALOT of company. There's going to be some major withdrawal issues when Isabel has gone.
Thanks, Stephanie. That makes me feel better.Enjoy reading your posts by the way.
I'm glad it made you feel better.

You're like me...and several thousand other Americans...after 9/11, when we were glued to the TV for days and days and days flipping between news channels in addition to reading news websites and watching online memorials. For me, it interfered with my sleep pattern, my diet, and my stress level. But I managed to not let it interfere with work - how? 'Twasn't easy. Multitasking helped.
Like SF said, step away from the computer. Study what you need to study, take a break, take a walk, then come back and study more (which could mean being on the computer since you're studying med transcription). Then reward yourself after you've studied and come back and check the boards. Do you get the Weather Channel? Also, I challenge you to transcribe one of the nightly Tropical Updates every night during the rest of Isabel's lifespan (they usually run at :50 after the hour). It will give you an update and help you practice transcribing.
As for when you're in class -- keep of the net! You can do it. Just a couple of hours in class, right?
I know lilapsophobia is the fear of hurricanes and tornados. So does that mean lipsoholics are addicted to them?
Good luck, Rob!

ADDICTED
I guess a lot of us are addicted. I was on the chat last night and suddenly realized it was 12:30 am and I had to get up at 6:00 am. LO --I was realy tired today but did manage to get something done. I think I may have overcompensated for being tired.

Rob - Andrew turned me into a wx junkie, of sorts!!! LOL I know Isabel is big deal, a huge deal! If Andrew did what it did for me personally, one can only hope for me if Isabel stays a Cat 5. My family will be checking me into a rehab place....LOL Even though you're way younger than me, I can relate a little.
Hang in there....
Hang in there....
