What's causing that?

This may have been asked (if so, sorry about the bandwidth waste - there's tons of threads here now!):

What is causing that cross in the eye? I saw a reference to vortices in another thread but I'm not real sure what that means.

can I just ask something? With an eye THAT big and at Cat 5 - what will happen as the eye contracts - we will have a record breaking hurricane IMO
