It has been such a week but finally I will be coming to meet Isabel (if she does make landfall) but a decision had to be made and now it has. Will update you very very shortly.

Harsh..not at all.. I can appreciate your love for weather and even wanting to experience a Hurricane.. I think you might have a better chance(Isabel fish dreams) for a landfall with a GOMER system.. imho..But hey we have plenty of good things to experience in the east coast.. Although if you had a system heading into the GOM it would be cool to visit the hurricane center in SoFla and then do the chase. I would get a unlimited milage on the rental car/hurricane chasemobile. Ohh yeah.. and don't forget Insurance..lol :)

Seriously.. Be careful out there...

Keep in touch..

Yes, I believe obxhurricane is in Kill Devil Hills, NC, if not mistaken. My aunt and uncle are in Manteo, on Roanoke Is.; I'm not sure if they are going to evacuate or not, since they are on the northwest side of the island. I'm inland a little ways; I'm not sure where I'll set up for Isabel myself. We'll have to see exactly where it will go first, but I don't think I will be down on the Outer Banks.

For OBX, are you in Collington or the beach portion of KDH?

No way I can---I've got to stay around here until just before any action were to occur on the northern beaches. Of course, if you are off for good now, you won't get this, but couldn't you come into Norfolk rather than Raleigh, or are you meeting someone in Raleigh?

I live in Kill Devil Hills and less than 1/2 mile from the Atlantic Ocean and about the same distance from the Albemarle Sound. Approximately 8 ft above sea level.

UK: I am not leaving. If you can find your way here you wil have a place to stay.

no time to settle on this - we expected it would be a case of off the plane into the car and off to move into position! Looks like some very sleepless times ahead!!!

obxhurricane, let me get this right...

You live on the outer banks at 8 feet above sea level, and you are going to hunker down for Isabel?

I'd double check my life insurance policies if I were you. I'd hate to think that you could leave a wife and kids without any support. But then again, maybe you aren't married.

Of course you are aware that a Cat-5 hurricane means storm surge of at least 22 feet, with large and battering waves on top of that?
