11A disc snip from Stacy Stewart

...THIS WOULD TEND TO KEEP ISABEL STRONGER THAN WHAT THE SHIPS
INTENSITY MODEL IS INDICATING...ESPECIALLY SINCE ISABEL WILL BE
MOVING OVER THE WARM GULFSTREAM SOUTH OF THE NORTH CAROLINA OUTER BANKS AT THAT TIME. THEREFORE...LITTLE OR NO SIGNIFICANT WEAKENING IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR UNTIL AFTER LANDFALL OCCURS.

Also....note to inland landlubbers. WREL has a pretty good storm prep guide. It was written more for inland flooding than coastal surge (given we're in the blue Ridge mountains). Help yourself to anything there:

This does seem very scary.. this seems to say that Isabel may be a CAT4 when (if) she hits.. I am not so sure how well people in the Mid Atlantic would be prepared for that.. I am not sure how we in S Florida would ever be prepared for that again even after Andrew.. this is becoming a serious situation!

I have a 15 year old daughter. A friend of hers was killed yesterday in an accident. I needed a smile.

Take the warm water, the appearance of an annular hurricane, expansion of the hurricane before landfall, and, yes, Scott, the word needs to get out early and loudly.

That's terrible. It seems this is becoming all too common. A junior at my son's high school was killed in a car accident the day before school started this year. She was a cheerleader and heavily involved so it affected a large number of students. There were several losses last year to accidents as well.

Maybe that trend to trying to keep kids from driving until they are 18 is not such a bad idea.

Scott, I'm so very sorry about your daughters friend :(

You and I have known each other for 3 1/2 years...and it's both an honor and a blessing to know you. I tell everyone I know about the wonderful website there at WREL...and about the wonderful friend of mine who is responsible for it being so awesome.

God bless you Scott! :) :)

Thanks folks...we'll be okay. I didn't mean to get us OT. Sorry.

Flooding is always the big risk over here.
LYH: possibly heavy rain...good lift from Blue Ridge, maybe very gusty winds. Buckingham is closer to track...they should be preparing as well.

thanks, scott. i appreciate it. we'll be on the phone w/them today as they are not weather watchers like us! she knows what to do as she's from here on the gulf coast, unlike her husband who's never experienced a hurricane. looks like he will, unfortunately. y'all stay safe up there.
