Almost drove off the road after hearing this...NJ Radio stat

#1 Postby njbeachwx » Mon Sep 15, 2003 9:29 am

NJ101.5 @ the 9 am news stated that Izzy would not directly hit NJ. HOW CAN A JOURNALIST BE SO BLIND??? Yes it may not hit (right now who can say) but we are not out of the woods by a longshot, especially if the sharp turn has begun. I hope he is right, but what an a**.

Same thing going on in the mainstream news

#2 Postby nicholle » Mon Sep 15, 2003 9:32 am

I was listening to CNN last night and the news bit went like this ...

"Hurricane Isabel is now weakening and is no longer a category five hurricane. But folks still may have reason for concern."

They make it sound as if "hey ... it's no problem. She's not a cat 5 any longer."

People may get hurt if they listen to the mainstream news.

Matt Lauer at least worded it like this -- "Isabel is a strong category 4 hurricane." Didn't minimalize the fact that she's not a 5, but emphasized the fact that she is strong.

Clueless, Clueless and oh yes, CLUELESS. :grrr:

The East Coast, especially MidAtlantic and above hasn't felt the affects of a hurricane this strong in decades. Heck, most of us boomers weren't born yet. Complacency is going to be our downfall.

Still may have a reason for concern? Still MAY have a reason for concern? People like this need to be taken out back and shot. If Issy had NOT made it to Category5- but instead clipped along at a steady Cat3 for days and days- the press woudl be telling people it's the worst storm of the century for the people in her predicted path! Idiots!
