The highest wind speed recorded in Isabel was on Saturday 9/14. It was recorded by dropsond with a speed of 178 KTS or 205 MPH. This was noted in the 5:00PM NHC Discussion by Stacey Stewert. This is located in the first paragragph. See attached link. Thoughts and comments welcomed.

Actually
I'm pretty sure that the e-mail I got from Chris Landsea (who launched the dropsonde in question) stated 205 kts at around 850 millibars. He said the dropsonde was suspended at the same height for 90 seconds in a strong updraft. There is some question as to whether the instrument was functioning properly, Chris said.

Thanks WXMAN57 for the clarification. Keep us updated on the final outcome (if the equipment was operating ect).
