Newer models starting to show a hook to the left...

#1 Postby JQ Public » Mon Sep 15, 2003 10:25 pm

The model our local met has been using is now saying that the ridge will be building up again to the north of isabel (like around pa, ohio etc), and so this means isabel will follow the track set out for it but as it gets closer to landfall it will hook left and could prove hazardous for much of the nc va piedmont. what do yall think? This model has proved helpful for us during storms like floyd and danny.

he is using a model that WRAL and NCSU university created together. It is called NC WEATHERSCOPE. I dunno if you can actually get it tho. But that WREL sight does have a more tracks that go left of the NHC one.

Heck, the 18z GFDL hooked far to the left and progged landfall between Wilmington and Morehead City as a 956 mb hurricane. Other than the LBAR....which is useless north of 25N, the GFDL is the only model I saw that forecast landfall west of Atlantic Beach and Morehead City, NC.
