AS A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE..........

#1 Postby dixiebreeze » Tue Sep 16, 2003 9:37 am

It was just a couple short weeks ago that we here on the Florida west coast were preparing for up to 15 inches of rain, flooding and possible high winds as Henri approached our area. As everyone knows, watches and warnings were up and anxiety was high.

We actually got barely a few sprinkles and Henri went on his merry way in another direction.

Just a point since the NE seems to be in a high state of anxiety about Isabel. Hurricanes can and do change their agenda dramatically when least expected, regardless of the best forecasting and models, because weather conditions are constantly in a state of flux.

I am preparing myself for what is being forecast - which is 60 MPH wind gusts late Thursday night and Friday morning, along with up to 4 inches of rain. We have had a few Nor'easters that have brought similar conditions, but it is still pretty rare.

As you say, things can and do change - so it could be not as bad, or possibly worse.
