I am worried about complancency at east coast
As soon as the media spreads the word that Isabel is weakening to a cat 2 I am worried about people not taking things in a more serious way because they were expecting a major 3-4 cane making landfall.Even if Isabel makes landfall as a cat 1 or 2 things will be very rough because the windfield will expand well before the eye makes landfall and also it will speed up and that is why I am worried about people looking at the news saying (well this is not going to be a big deal) but those people who think that way are wrong and must make all the preparations to recieve a hurricane even more weak than a cat 5-4-3 but still dangerous indeed. :o

IMO, North Carolina isn't the concern about the preparations. NC still has the memories fresh in their minds to Bertha, Bonnie, Dennis, Fran, and Floyd. It's points further north. Places that haven't experienced what a hurricane is all about in quite some time. When Isabel accelerates north-northwestward or northwestward AFTER landfall is what I'm concerned about as well. The winds will wind down gradually, but with a faster motion of Isabel, strong winds will be farther reaching.

That's what I'm concerned about also Luis for up my way. It may not take too much for her to move to the right abit and then we're in a load of trouble!!

Everyone here in NC will take at CAT 1 or 2 seriously. As you stated earlier Bertha, Fran, Bonnie, Floyd, Irene, and Dennis are still fresh in our minds. However, I do agree that the folks up north of us should sit up and pay attention. It's been years since they've experienced something like this and many will have no idea of what to do, where to go, or what to expect. I pray they take notice before it's too late. As the old saying goes, Better To Be Safe Than Sorry!

Eastern Shore of VA NOT READY
I live in a senior citizens trailor park, on the ES of VA. One mile from the ocean. It seems that no one knows what to do, and are taking a wait and see attitude. This scares me. We are on a peninsula that is 3-7 miles wide, with the Atlantic on one side and the Chesapeake on the other. I think this could be a major disaster area if the cane strengthens.
