All is in Robertson's hands...
"In the name of Jesus, we reach out our hand in faith and we command that storm to cease its forward motion to the north and to turn and to go out into the sea," Robertson prayed on "The 700 Club."
Robertson claims to have used the power of prayer to steer hurricanes away from his Virginia Beach, Virginia headquarters. He took credit for steering the course in 1985 of Hurricane Gloria, which caused millions of dollars of destruction in many states along the east coast. He made a similar claim about another destructive storm, Hurricane Felix, in 1995.

Sorry for my comment.... I did not comprehend it I guess. I believe in the power of prayer!! It has worked for me and my family members many times. If he wants to pray for this storm to head out to sea, I certainly do not have a problem with that!! I am also praying that this storm weakens before moving onshore.
GOD hears all prayer even if the answer is No.

I can't figure out what's wrong with praying for a storm to go out to sea. And Robertson didn't claim credit for himself; he gave credit to God, the One who answers prayer.
And what happens when a storm strikes even after prayer? It means that God said "No." Why? I don't know, and I'm not surprised that I can't understand all of God's ways.
It seems that some people have a hard time understanding this relatively simple concept.

Agree hawksnestguy----it was even a point he stressed on in the presidential elections...that HE turned the storm away from his CBN headquarters...

"The New York Times reports that evangelist Pat Robertson, who will announce in two weeks whether he will run for the presidency, claims he can pray away bad weather. ... Robertson said in a recent interview that his prayers to keep Hurricane Gloria away from Virginia Beach last June had been successful, which was 'extremely important because I felt, interestingly enough, that if I couldn't move a hurricane, I could hardly move a nation.' ... Robertson said that if the hurricane had come ashore, he would have seen it as a sign from above to abandon his presidential ambitions."

I have one question though about the New York Times quote...it stated that he prayed for Gloria away from Virginia Beach in June...didn't the storm hit in September of 85??? I remember being back in school, just a few weeks into my third grade year. I also remember being in a wedding the weekend after that storm. Just wondering if the article was misquoted or was the article printed wrong.
