12z Nogaps develops Low

#1 Postby Vortex » Tue Sep 16, 2003 6:39 pm

near 12/40 and generally heads towards the islands with a turn more northerly at the end of the period. However, at that time ridging begins to develop north of the storm.

I've noticed that on the long range GFS the past few days....one run it's there, the next it isn't.....just have to watch and see what develops.

Shear

#7 Postby wxman57 » Tue Sep 16, 2003 7:24 pm

There is TREMENDOUS wind shear over that disturbance now as a sharp trof digs southward in Isabel's wake. Upper-level winds are absolutely screaming across the area from the west and southwest. It is the leading edge (southeast part) of the upper-level trof that is enhancing convection associated with a weak tropical wave. Chances of development are quite remote. Certainly, it can't develop until that trof moves out, and that isn't happening any time soon. Look elsewhere for development.
