My grandfather built a really nice pier on the Shallotte River, behind their house, just before his health started failing. Hugo took care of it (and recall, it didn't really hit near there), so he built it back. Unfortunately, at this point, he couldn't do the job he did before. Still, he amazed us all and finished a workable, enjoyable pier. Bertha took care of that one. It's lied in a state of disrepair since, since my grandfather could never get the strength to do something like that again.
