And more watches extended to more places as you can read where they are.28.5n-71.7w 110 mph NNW still at 8 mph.

Just missed my hometown. New Hanover county's had more than their share of storms, but I really don't want to see the Hatteras lighthouse in danger. :(

I guess they raised it to 110 mph now 1 mph from a cat 3.

I know what you mean Pi Master.. we lost an historic lighthouse on one of our barrier islands during Georges. It survived Camille (CAT 5) Frederic (CAT 4) and Elena (CAT 3) but was taken out by a low CAT 2. It survived an unnamed hurricane in 1947 too.

Thats sad we lost the Indian rocks pier in elena :(

Thats sad we lost the Indian rocks pier in elena :( Which was a very special place for me..not historic.. SO.. I can't imagine losing a piece of history :cry: Hopefully this cane has mercy

My grandfather built a really nice pier on the Shallotte River, behind their house, just before his health started failing. Hugo took care of it (and recall, it didn't really hit near there), so he built it back. Unfortunately, at this point, he couldn't do the job he did before. Still, he amazed us all and finished a workable, enjoyable pier. Bertha took care of that one. It's lied in a state of disrepair since, since my grandfather could never get the strength to do something like that again.

Yeah, it's been moved pretty far back from the water. If it hadn't, it would be a definite goner, I think. Hopefully it wasn't a futile effort.
