So Isabel is falling apart this morning?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

So Isabel is falling apart this morning?

#1 Postby rob8303 » Wed Sep 17, 2003 8:51 am

From everything I've read, it appears that dry air is entraining Isabel, the system is nearly subtropical, and we will only have a 70 mph storm at landfall? And the storm is looking worse on satelite even as we speak? I got that right?

I think it's probably quite the opposite. There are a LOT of posts, even several by pro-mets, that this storm could intensify. IMHO, I dont see it 's falling apart.

DT - take a deep breath - we are getting the info here - albeit not 100% accurate maybe. How quickly did the eye disappear yesterday? How quickly can a storm fall apart? (very) Please help us with your expertise instead of being a little too direct with your comments and no explanation.

Why are we getting those reports? Perhaps you should give them a call ;-) .

Thanks, DT - and really - thanks for your insight.

Well, the isue here is telling people on the shore that they will only have to deal with a 70mph tropical storm. If the people only prepare for 70mph winds, and that's all they get, then fine. But if the storm strengthens rapidly (and it could happen), they could be dealing with a 125 mph Cat. 3, and they only expected a tropical storm.
