Very important tip about generators

If you have one of those generators that hooks into your house so you can run everything just like the power was running, YOU MUST TURN OFF THE CURRENT GOING BACK OUT TO THE LINE!!!!! If you don't it runs current back out. Just getting reports that a line man was killed trying to restore power here, most likely for that reason.

Excellent point Seahawk. In addition, you do not want to be hooked up to lineside power, using a generator, when power is restored. It can be an explosive situation. Bottom line, never hook a generator into the main panel unless the main disconnect has been thrown(disconnected).
