My cousin who lives in S. California visited me in NJ this past week. It was the first time he was ever outside of CA even though he is 22. Isabelle was his first real storm he was ever in. I was telling him about how we get TS once every couple years and about Nor'Easterns and snowstorms and all that good stuff. Then I was telling him about how the leaves will change colors in a few weeks and how great fall is with the smell of fireplaces going. Its amazing how he has never experienced stuff like that. He was telling me that the weather there is the same everyday 10 months out of the year. Personally, I would go crazy if it was like that every day. I can't wait for October, bring it on!

That is true. 10 months of the year we pretty much get our usual low clouds and fog in the morning giving way to hazy sunshine. Occasionally, we can get a big El Nino storm or a strong Santa Ana wind. But, if I grew up here, I would have no clue to what "real" weather is. Just as an example, I get really excited when we get a thunderstorm because they're pretty rare down on the coastal plain. Guess we have earthquakes to deal with here, so mother nature gives us a break in the severe weather department.

Low clouds and fog suck. It's boring waking up to gray skies every morning from May through early July and then ahain from September through November. I should know because I live about 4 miles from the beach. I have had about 4 thunderstorms in the past year. Got a good one the day after Thanksgiving. :D The Santa Anas really get us in my neck of the woods though. The one right after New Years was especially bad.

Tropical system's remnants do come our way sometimes. Hernan did so last summer as an example.
