POSSIBLE TD IN 24 HRS. SAYS NHC AT 2 P.M........

#1 Postby dixiebreeze » Sat Sep 27, 2003 1:04 pm

REFERRING TO W. CARIBBEAN. HERE IS DISCUSSION EXCERPT:

A SURFACE TROUGH EXTENDS FROM A 1008 MB LOW NEAR THE GULF OF
FONSECA IN THE E PACIFIC NEWD ACROSS HONDURAS TO 21N84W. IT
APPEARS THAT A LOW-LEVEL CIRCULATION MAY BE DEVELOPING EAST OF
BELIZE OVER THE GULF OF HONDURAS...AND TSTM ACTIVITY HAS
BLOSSOMED ALONG THE TROUGH ALL MORNING. IF THIS TREND
CONTINUES...A TROPICAL DEPRESSION MAY FORM IN THE AREA OVER THE
NEXT 24 HRS. SCATTERED MODERATE CONVECTION FROM 10N-13N BETWEEN
95W-100W.

Should be noted, too, that convection has substantially increased in TD 16, with the LLC now covered, according to the 2 p.m. discussion.

Hmm.. Thank you Dixie, so we may have Kate after all soon and we may have TD 17 not that far behind.

Things could get interesting regarding 17.

I say with T.D. 17 the only way it can get cought in that front, is if the system starts moving to the north, if it stay's were its at for a while well it may not go nowere. All I can say is it is a wait and see game.

Good Post Dixie..That paragraph clearly sticks out..I think development is a certain thing..Intensity,Direction and Speed are the uncertainties.

Aqua.. Us here in Florida don't need much rain.. But I think "17"/Kate or Larry may bring us some. We actually up here just had a violent thunderstorm rip through about an hour ago, and it looked like we were about to get more rain but I guess not.

As we watch and wait to see what happens with potential "17"

Weather Emperor- Yeah. The rain is coming in buckets for us now.

I remember up here in 1998 living anywhere I could find after the tornado came through.. Wishing for rain cause after the tornado we went into the incredible drought

Now we wish for dry days..

Josephine, did you go through Hurricane Gordon in 2000? Just curious.

I don't know how much anyone else has gotten, but,
at my house I've only had almost 2" for the month.
Almost all of that was at the beginning of the month.
Let it swing around to my side of the state and I'll take the rain.

I did not go through Gordon. The last storm I can remember making a direct impact on my area {other than Henri or "pre erika"} was Gabrielle in 2001.

I'm trying to remember, I don't think we got any storms to come through here last year..

John, Edouard and "long lived, loopy" Kyle affected Florida last year.

Thanks Aquawind. Of all the action this week, I also believe Invest 90 has the most potential to cause problems for Florida during the next week or so. And it could well be more than just rain IMO.

Dixie... If it sits long enough... I agree with you that there could be some wind issues with it... Lets just see what Larry has up his sleeves..

You're welcome, John.

It is difficult to a degree to remember what we experienced in regard to tropical systems here in Florida last year; only Edouard and Kyle... neither of them amounted to much, especially Edouard.

Kyle was in the Atlantic looping around for so long and two weeks earlier very weak Eduoard moved over the peninsula.

I checked http://weather.unisys.com/hurricane/index.html for them. :)

Barometric pressure readings have been below 30.00" [between 29.80 and 29.90" for the most part] for a few days across southern and central Florida.

Tom.. I went straight to the NHC site and checked it out as well... Here in Central Florida we have not taken a direct hit from a hurricane since 1995 with Erin... but we have taken a lot of hits from Tropical storms...
