NHC CALLS 1007 MB LOW AT 85 WEST "TROPICAL DISTURBANCE&

#1 Postby dixiebreeze » Sat Sep 27, 2003 7:10 pm

in the 8 p.m. discussion. Here is the excerpt:

TROPICAL DISTURBANCE...1007 MB LOW...IS LOCATED OVER THE NW
CARIBBEAN NEAR 18.5N85.5W. A TROUGH EXTENDS FROM THE LOW INTO W
HONDURAS. UPPER-LEVEL WINDS SUPPORT POSSIBLE TROPICAL CYCLONE
FORMATION. SHOWERS AND TSTMS COVER THE AREA FROM 15N TO 24N
BETWEEN 80W AND 89W. THIS AREA INCLUDES CUBA WHERE TSTMS ARE
STRONG ALONG THE N COAST. THE DISTURBANCE IS EXPECTED TO MOVE
SLOWLY TOWARD THE NORTHWEST AND BRING HEAVY RAINS TO PORTIONS OF
THE YUCATAN PENINSULA AND WESTERN CUBA DURING THE NEXT 24
HOURS.

I say we may already have a depression down there, but they just going to wait until recon go out there then they will reveal that we have T.D. 17 or possible Larry.

I agree with the synopsis of having TD 17 already. I don't know about having Larry already. but yes on TD 17.

Floridians need to watch the "slingshot effect" scenario that will take place if a cold front comes down and picks "17" up.

For anyone that doesn't know what the "slingshot effect" is. I'll gladly explain it lol

Maybe a depression, but not a TS, not right now anyway.

on satellite imagery it doesn't look like a TS but a TD is probable.
