Tropical Update: 20 Feb

#1 Postby senorpepr » Fri Feb 20, 2004 1:03 pm

Note: The area of interest yesterday has weakened and is no longer mentioned in JTWC bulletins. As for the following area of interest, this system is a new area.

:rarrow: A) Unnumbered Area of Interest: At 20/1430Z...
Position near 7.3N 142.6E (300nm ESE of Yap)
Movement is stationary
Maximum sustained winds are 10-15 mph
Minimum central pressure is 1008 mb

Water Vapor images indicate disorganized, cycling convection over a weak low-level circulation. Marginal upper-level diffluence is present; however, moderate wind shear is plaguing this system. The JTWC has given this wave a “poor” chance at development.

The Area in WPAC

is now INVEST 95W and appears from satellite to be mostly a wave at this time. There is also INVEST 95P located east of New Caledonia which actually shows some circulation features and looks like it could actually develop over the next 48-72 hours.

Yup, and the T-numbers on 95P are T1.0 from all agencies.
