My #1 is the national hurricane center followed very closely by hurricane hollow forum.

Oh shoot! I clicked the National Weather Service, but I meant to say National Hurricane Center, followed by Hurricane Hollow.

What kind of a hurricane forecaster would I be if I didn't trust my own research more than the NHC?

However, I never miss a chance to watch TWC and see what Steve Lyons has to say. The NHC is just too political now - directing storms toward major population areas as a "strategy of least regret" (Georges into New Orleans vs. Mississippi in '98) and naming systems that didn't even have a closed circulation (Grace last year) according to their own recon reports.

Yep I did the same thing, put my own research. But what can I say!! I will always make a call for my own safety for my family, and the second would of course be the NHC!

Brazilian Mets! :D No, seriously I like this website, the NHC, Accuweather and The Weather Channel. The NHC is my first choice, but you really get the best picture using the NHC combined with this forum and various other resources for additional maps, graphics, news stories, etc..

Myself and have had to give opinions to others for planning purposes. When it comes to making a life and death decision, only the info from myself and my forecasters are factored into the decisions
