I know that some members may be wondering what is that area of clouds and thunderstorms in the atlantic.Well nothing that will be a repetition of ANA last year at this month.A deep layer low pressure will develop NE of the Leewards but nothing will come out of it as it is a very old front that has been in the area for days and now it is a surface trough with showers and thunderstorms and also it is in an area of below the line of SST'S that may be more favorable 78*F as surface water temps are now at the low to mid 70's.GFS has shown this feature in past runs.
You may be asking what is that mess in central atlantic

It did appear interesting, what with Ana making an early appearance last spring, so thanks for the clarification and info.

Yeah, this is surely interesting. This is the same system that was forecast to develop by the GFS and that I noted on the topic "Western Atlantic Gale" exactly 7 days ago, with the exception that it looks like it will develop NE of the islands, instead of due north.

In any case, it will be interesting with the current pattern in place and if it sits still for a few days. There may (and this is a big MAY), be some sort of organization which might try to take place during the weekend, although I don't think it will be a repetition of last year's Ana.

are we going to get any rain from it?
Nothing for the islands msbee from that as it is stationary and eventually will move NE but we may get some clouds and some Isolated to widely scattered showers for the northern islands as the winds shift to the NE around the circulation of the low and transport them to the islands but nothing more.

This system is non-tropical in nature but may get some sub-tropical caracteristics down the road if it gets ideal upper conditions.TWD aluds to the fact that GFS turns it into a warm core system but it is overdone because of the baroclinic features that it has.
