td forming?

#1 Postby Opal storm » Mon Jun 14, 2004 4:47 pm

The hurricane hunters are out there right now and Dr Steve lyons pointed out several areas east of the LLC with winds close to or at 30mph and gusts to 35mph.This might be their last trip out to the storm(I would believe),becuase its making landfall tonight,so if they don't find anything today, then this will never be more than what it is already, just a disturbence.Td or not,the only threat will be flooding from new orleans to panama city.

Well actually, if the NHC didn't investigate it, and it had developed, wouldn't somebody be trashing them for it?
I think the NHC has followed protocol, and issued the right statements.
But, whether it had become only a TD, the same result would have occured.
Lots of Rain!!!!!
Cudos to the NHC!!!

Well said Bob. Every year we see many blobs that have minor potential that never develop or ones that do and always there is someone to bash the experts. Forcasting is an art as well as a science. Every system is different and we are constantly seeing systems that challenge current knowledge. I think we should give the NHC the respect they deserve. They do the best they can with the information avilable and we are still free to disagree but we sjould do it with respect for the experts and others on the board. I really hate it when one (or more) persons try to ram their views down out throats with shear persistence.

Happy tracking! 8-)
