By the end of the week the gulf will have alot of energy. Could we see our first storm this weekend.
Any comments?

We already have a upper level system in the Gulf bringing some convection to the Central Gulf. The Tropcial Wave over Eastern Cuba will move into the Gulf. Some energy from the convection over Central America could break off and move into the Gulf. Also my local TV Met says the vort max is backing southwest over a ridge of high pressure!

gom

#6 Postby rbaker » Tue Jul 13, 2004 1:41 pm

looking at wv imagery the sw caribbean seems more likely in day or two, because upper air low near yucatan seems to be overtaken by ridging extending from off coast of nicaraga (sp.) and nw caribbean.
If the feature in the gom gets going it will probably move sw,
and develop slowly if at all, unless its sits there awhile. It has definitely slowed down since yesterday.

TS Zach, where in Louisiana are you?

From the sounds of it you and I are in pretty much the same place.

I do note that in Biloxi the tides are rather high today.

For that matter, I keep wondering what ANY of the political 'signatures' have to do with weather......

There are "off Topic" forums on the site, as you have seen. I think what Luis was referring to was that this forum is inappropriate for the topic.
