This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

new area east of windwards?

#1 Postby rbaker » Wed Jul 14, 2004 10:22 am

satellite imagery shows a blow up of thunderstorms at about 10n lat and 54 w long. Doesn't look to have any shear, a little drier air in front of it plus pretty low latitude. Might be moving w to wnw. Will have to see if it persists.
Area down in sw caribbean not as active as yesterday or last night but still has anticyclone overhead, will have to see if convection fires again today.

There are some distant flashes of lightning but nothing more right now. I'll keep you posted.
