Tropical System?

#1 Postby Thunder44 » Thu Jul 15, 2004 6:47 am

Hey, the Euro model has been showing a storm developing off the off the Mid-Atlantic Coast for the last two runs...

Some of the other models like the Canadian, and Ukmet seem to show this now too.

Do you all think this maybe a nor'easter or tropical storm developing?

Aye, no tropical system, but some sort of coastal Low indeed..... Would be a nasty rainmaker for the Midatlantic and Northeast if it were to play according to the ECMWF and UKMET solutions.

Definitely agreed here ... like the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast need anymore rain after the last system dumped as much as 12" of rain in Lumberton, NJ.

It looks to close to land for any to develop, also it appears over water in one model and then over land in the other. I don't see any clear sign that something has a real possibility for development.

Hurakan no one is talking about tropical development with this one....

HOWEVER JB and other mets have mentioned that this feature may bring more heavy rain to the N. Midatlantic and the Northeast (coastal low)....

EXACTLY!

This is just a mid-latitude low pressure system which may take on some Nor'easter like characteristics. Quite Unusual for this time of year.

This is kind of making me think real hard...
Anyone else can chime in on this...
With the way this summer has been going (cool + wet) it kind of makes me wonder what winter will be like. We have already had cold fronts dropping abnormaly far south, strong amplification in the pattern, -NAO signals at times, and now coastal possibilities? Interesting.........

Every few years we get a non tropical coastal low here on the EC. You gotta watch these they can evolve into to TC. It is rare though
