Brevard County FL?

#1 Postby Windsong » Thu Aug 12, 2004 10:25 am

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could tell me what to expect here in Brevard County if Charley maintains his course.

Thank you so very much.

Try this, click on either the Northern part or Southern part of Brevard. I'm from Northern Brevard.

The NHC has not been focusing on the east coast of florida (or the atlantic at all) regarding this system due to track uncertainty. If it emerges out into the atlantic (or not at all) by jacksonville, I imagine you would barely feel tropical storm force winds, but if it emerges out into the atlantic in Volusia county, you could be in for quite a blow. I think the will be more specific regarding the eastern counties later this evening.

Thanks. I am in Central Brevard and live and work on the barrier islands. People here are not paying attention.

I do believe many of the evacuees are being told to head east instead of north, so I dont think you are going to see "much" from this, not more than tropical storm I would think.

Hi, Windsong -- You're not alone over here! I'm in Cape Canaveral and my friends and neighbors are monitoring and chatting. We know at this early stage any jog to east could quickly change our current comfort level. Praying for the "west coasters" at this point.

By the way, the NOAA MLB link that Serenity provided does show us, way over here, having gusts to 50 MPH Friday night even WITH the current path!

Yes Seabreeze, somebody saying that we'll feel barely any effects from this system is dead wrong, Especially since he is moving NNW now and just a HAIR west of yesterdays predicted track, and if he remains on course, will get back within that window but as a Cat III/IV. That's a recipe for disaster! Remember last nite's forecast had winds gusting to hurricane force on Friday evening with a Cat I. In theory, update that with a similar track with a Cat III or IV. Check the eyewall on the vis sat pix......very inpressive.

My concern exactly Sea... I work in CC and people here are NOT paying attention at all. ANY eastern deviation to the track puts the barrier islands in harms way too.

My heart is sorrowful for the west coasters and I have a real bad feeling about this.

As far as the evacuees being advised to come east, there really is no place else for them to go.

Stay safe
