Let the weather channel know what you think!

#1 Postby sponger » Thu Aug 12, 2004 11:06 pm

Evening all, I see the late night crew is glued which is good to see. We had a thread this afternoon about the weather channel's lack of any dedication to to its core group....US!

Here is what I propose! Lets start an email campaign to let them know! http://www.weather.com/common/survey/fe ... rom=footer

Post respones to issues like

1) Running STORM STORIES last night during the 8:00 pm update!

2) Rushing Steve Lyons off this evening at 11:00 while dicussing strom surge potential! ( God forbid the commercial would be delayed while we in Florida are under the gun!)

Lets tell these weather wanna be's that the quality of their coverage stinks!

Repost to this thread to keep it current on the message board and count response.

Storm Coverage! I cant believe you ran storm stories last night after 2 minutes of the 8:00 update!

Tonight you rushed Steve lyons off the air while hes was beginning to explain storm surge potential along the weat coast. (11:00 pm update)

I have watched the weather channel for 10 years. However, I can remember when your hurricane covergae was first class. Now it feels like a 12 hour flight in coach!

To be honest....you MAY be overreaching this a little. trust me Dr. Lyons has enough pull and Expertise to "go live" at any point of the day he may determine in needed! plus the 8pm update is a intermediate update and less important until landfall is near finally I'm sure if its like the local mets here they are on 25 hrs a day plus using the info. boxes on the screen to keep the public up to date....I dont like alot of the WX channels choices but this one is w/o fault!

Thanks for responding rtd2! This was not an intermediate advisory. This was 11:00 and 2 mins in they cut in with the David Letterman music that says "rap it up" Its ridiculas....just an opinion[/quote]

Hi, Sponger -- Kudos for starting this thread! Until yesterday, I hadn't tuned into the WC for over 6 months. With my 250+ cable channels and the Internet (especially forums like this), I usually just ignore the WC.

My apologies sponger....I thought I saw 8pm update... I agree they tend to cut the late night 11pm to 8am shorter (beauty slepp nedde) but when this thing gets close to U.S. L/F that SHOULD change.... if not stay with locals or here of course

no worries! I just long for the days of John Hope and solid early covergae. Stay safe everyone in the path of this beast!

By the way its dead calm here in Western St Augustine! Reminds me of S Fl before Andrew. Cantore did have a good talk about the lack of wind and bird or animal noises on the west coat.
