This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Low Level Circulation on Wave in Central Atlantic

#1 Postby PuertoRicoLibre » Wed Aug 18, 2004 2:22 pm

From the 2:05 pm discussion:

Tropical wave over the c atlc previously along 35w/36w S of 17n
moving W near 20 kt has been relocated to 38w/39w based on
visible satellite data... which shows a low to mid-level
circulation near 10n along the axis. An area of scattered
moderate convection is within 300 nm of the wave axis.

Things are getting more interesting this afternoon.

Looks pretty interesting here but I know nothing about all the complicated climatology stuff to determine it's impact as a tropical system.

Cool, when we make it to Gaston, that means I've lived here in Galveston through a 6 cycles of hurricane names (moved here during Georges, missed out on the fun of Frances).

Funny...measuring time by hurricane seasons instead of years. :)

It needs to start moving more northward if it is to have a chance to develop.

Our next TS is looking pretty good to me late this afternoon. Not terribly organized yet, but it may not be long.
