to depict with consitency a pattern that would not bold well for the bahamas, Florida and the Gulf long term. The key here is a well established ridge along the eastern seaboard extending west would cause a scenario for Francis to move generally w/wnw across the bahamas, florida and into the Gulf. It's the forcasted synoptic pattern that concerns me as this would enable Francis to move west and into the Gulf....

That is a rather ominous looking model run - a similar track to a system from twelve years ago. We've had our "fun"(?) in Florida already. Time for it to go somewhere else.
For Charley, the trough was bad news, and a ridge would have been great.
The exact opposite may be true for Frances.
