Highest Number of Named Storms at the Same Time

#1 Postby Cyclone Runner » Thu Aug 26, 2004 12:52 am

With all the tropical storms, typhoons and hurricanes in the Western Pacific, Eastern Pacific and in the Atlantic recently, I was wondering if anyone knew what was the highest number of named storms to occur concurrently, when and which were the names of the storms?

This week we had 5; Aere, Chaba, Estelle, Frances and Frank. However Frank and Estelle are dead, Aere dying and only Chaba and Fraces still alive.
