We live Homestead in a manufactured home. I've only lived in SFL for 2.5 years so I don't really know when I'm overracting to these things vs when there really is reason for concern. We know that there is NO WAY we'll be riding out a storm like Frances in our home but would like to get as much of our stuff to a safe place as possible. What do you think our chances are of getting a hit down here?
BTW...I just found this site while tracking Frances and it's great! I'm already addicted!

Well, I can't answer in regards to your chances, but I will say this -- STUFF can be replaced. Just like Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey) said in "American Beauty" -- "It's just a couch!" It's just "stuff" for the most part.
Focus on important, non-replacable or hard-to-replace things like important papers, medicines, family photos and documents. Aside from heirlooms and antiques, furniture can be replaced. Dishes can be be replaced. Appliances and stereos and videotapes can be replaced. So many things, if they are lost and damaged in a hurricane, flood, fire, or by theft can be replaced if you have insurance. Or, even if you don't, eventually you can regain most of those things.
Get you, your family, your pets, and those few irreplacable important things out and make sure you are stocked up on things that you will need in the aftermath - batteries, bleach, dry socks, and so forth (please refer to the preparation thread and other hurricane preparedness lists
Take care and know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
