#1 Postby krisj » Wed Sep 01, 2004 9:55 pm

All this changing of forcasts and models is driving me nuts!!!!
Every 6 hours I go from feeling safe to feeling like I have to get ready to lose everything.
This can't be healthy for me! Ahhhh!!!!

Not much has really been changing as far as the NWS forcast is concerned, just listen to them. Take everything you see / read here (including models) with a grain of salt... and disregard any posts stating that the storm is heading to NC.

I understand. Try to realize that computers are imperfect. If you stay with the NHC's official forecast and the general board here you will see a lot less variance. Try not to place the emphasis on every single model run, but on the general trends that they show.

welcome to florida. it's part of living in this great state. other states have tornadoes, earthquakes, blizzards, floods, fire, etc. it's just a matter of having a plan and being prepared as you would in any other location.

The models do jump around a lot. It's been more west and more east for different models every day.

It's just crazy!

Luoisiana gets hurricanes too, and plenty of tornadoes, so we arent in a safe zone either. Lili proved that. In any case, FLorida is hurricane central, and as they say, its hte ones coming from the Atlantic seabord you guys should really watch for, although Charley did prove htat a West coaster can break that rule. You guys really dont need htis at all, but I wish you all the best.

Actually I tend to disagree with this a little. The reason computer models don't work perfectly is because we don't have proper data to fill in the blanks. as long as the human in charge programs the formulas right, and the data is perfect, then the outcome should be extremely good. unless remote sensing takes a giant leap forward, we will never have the data neccessary to let a computer do what it is capable of, that is calculate formulas.

Any chance of Frances effecting the MS Gulf Coast? Right now it seems like a small chance, but I'm wondering if the chances will become greater with the passing days.
