Looking at the WV images from when Frances was over the open ocean, there was dry air COMPLETELY AROUND THE SYSTEM. Yet Frances still grew to 145 mph sustained.
Then, a small sliver of dry air in an otherwise moist environment apparently was enough to bring the mighty Frances down, at least for the time being.
My question is how come just a lil bit of dry air was enough to weaker her today, while ALL that dry air around her in the Atlantic didn't phase her one bit? Was there shear also involved with the weaking today?
Someone please help me out!
