Martin EOC #3

As you know the eye came ashore in Martin County. We are still getting hammered by the south side of the storm. Damage is wide spread throughout the whole county. No power anywhere.

The Sheriff's Office and Fire Rescue 911 lines are down but coming back sporadic. Cell calls to 911 are getting through. Stuart PD 911 lines are operational.

Nextel communication in the central and north county is down. I can communicate with Nextel from my location here at Tower Road only as far north as Monterey Road. Communication south is still okay.

No significant flooding reported yet. Obviously no report from Hutchinson Island yet.

Several problems at Pinewood Elementary shelter and Challenger shelter. Roofs leaking in many rooms. Food ruined by water.

NO INJURIES OR DEATH reported throughout the county. Keep your fingers crossed.

Martin County EOC will host a press conference at 1000 hrs. I will be speaking for Stuart.

Thanks for the supportive posts. We all appreciate it.

Thanks for your reports. They help us out a bunch. We are STILL in the remnants of the north eye wall. Here at the office, we recieved our first gust over 50 knots before 4 PM Sunday. We just gusted to 65 knots again just now.

Second 10 hour shift is up. I'm taking a break for a few hrs. Man, the words to describe the tenacity of this slow moving behemoth fail me. "Rasputin - like" comes to mind. Perhaps the "When will it end" - cane.

best wishes to all

Your reports have been very helpful in this house full of Stuart evacuees.

I contacted WFLA to request that they televise the press conference.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
