#1 Postby charleston_hugo_veteran » Sun Sep 05, 2004 12:00 pm

IF it takes this path I think I would hold off on any extensive cleaning efforts in Fla.....

If it took that exact track, I'm not sure Hispaniola would kill it.

Perhaps President Bush will declare Ivan a terrorist and imprison him at Guantanimo.

With all joking aside (those were humurous statements, BTW :lol:), I am getting concerned for our friends down in Florida. It is already a CAT 3, about 36 to 48 hours before it was predicted to do so, and it is forecast to affect anywhere from Cuba to Florida. :eeK;

The good thing about that track is that Ivan would have to deal with the mountains of Hispanola and Cuba.

No one knows if this will hit Hispanola or not.Yesterday,NHC siad Ivan will easily pass NORTH or SOUTH of Hispanola,which means Ivan isn't going to pass directly over it.

This forecast track scares me,because it shows the chances are good that Fl. will get hit with yet anothetr major hurricane.It will be like a terrorist attack in a way

IF it hits Hispanola, it will lose a lot of strength, HOWEVER, it's a Cat 3 or Cat 4 when it does so, it will likely still be a Cat 1 or Cat 2 hurricane when it exits. It's forecast to move across it quickly.

It all depends through whic part of Hispaniola it passes through...if it goes through the Dominican Republic there is a likelihood it will lose most of its strength because those mountains in DR are over 10000 feet; however the route it seems to be taking if it follows the NHC path is through the area of Hispaniola where there are not that many mountains as the center of Hispaniola

I think this storm will be a Cat 4 when it hits Hispaniola, which will probably drop it to a Cat 3 if it goes at its current pace; but then we get into the Bahamas and the upwelling should be gone by that time from Frances so this one has the potential to BOMB in the southern Bahamas by next weekend

Down here at my house, my avocado tree got torn down and half my block lost shingles from their roofs but no loss of power as of yet
