Each successive run loses him faster ... the 12Z run barely even initializes him, and he's gone in less than 24 hours ...
More evidence (as if we needed it) that the GFS has trouble with the tropics.

Yeah ... why is that? Can we say "lack of funding"?
I bet we could get a pretty rich data set in that area for about 1/1000 the cost of that spiffy but useless missile defense system we're building.
