In 1979, at age 10, I "tracked" my first hurricane. Hurricane David. I couldn't wait for the next advisory so I could plot the next set of coordinates.
I had to get them off the radio, television or from the Orlando Sentinel.
Hurricane David formed at a very low latitude - about 12 North. It later moved into the northeastern Caribbean, reached Hispaniola as a category 5, emerged as a tropical storm and then strengthened back into a hurricane and moved right up the Florida East coast cancelling school for me.
And Ivan?
