I still think that track is to far to the north. But who knows it might not be. Im waiting to see what the models going to be doing tonight once they get some data from the recon in.

Well you certainly did an amazing job on Frances, so I'm inclined to give your Ivan forecast great weight.

I think Ivan is so close to South America that overland air is affecting it...

I'm really hoping Ivan misses Florida and goes into GOM instead.Not because I want a GOM hurricane,but because given the choice of the two,better GOM :(

I measured the center at 360 miles away from South America - quite a long way off to the south. . There's no dry air over land to move into Ivan, so that is not a factor. Ivan was zipping along at 20ks and most likely ran into a region of speed shear aloft. Winds aloft didn't quite match those near the surface.
