This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

watch out for ivan and another tropical wave east of ivan

#1 Postby blizzard20 » Mon Sep 06, 2004 12:02 pm

ivan will move north of the puerto rico area then towards the bahamas is more likely . could go into the gulf but would turn northeast towards florida then off the east coast of florida area then be cat 4 in that area . Ivan could come up the east coast either way if it goes into the gulf or east of florida area.

watch the wave off the africa coast area which likely to become tropical storm .

some of you will disagree with my forecast .

Yes i have to disagree with your north of puerto rico area. This system is to far south to miss puerto rico to the north. For that to happen it has to start a serious NNW movement right now.

I agree that it is nearly impossible for Ivan to move north of PR. Of course, with these sytems you never know but I think it would be more likely to hit the coast of SA (very doubtful) than PR.

Also the system is moving extremly fast. Deep-layer ridge to the North so it can definitely not go there. I suspect Barbados to be first effected by the storm. Then Ivan moves into the Caribbean and continues a West-Northwest movement.
Southern Hati, Cuba, and Jamaica watch out!
