The latest GFDL and UKMET runs have shifted westward ... the UKMET dramatically so. Instead of pulling Ivan NW toward FL, the UKMET now has him heading WNW toward the Yucatan. The GFDL is more westward as well -- into Cuba instead of more northerly toward FL. Good news for us South Floridians, that's for sure. Of course, it's always worth mentioning that these 5- and 6-day forecasts are highly speculative and we'll have a much clearer picture by Wednesday afternoon or so if FL is under the gun again or if this is a GOM threat. Leaning toward the latter myself based on what I've seen.

Oh peachy

Yes, a westward shift is good news for Florida but I think a better solution would have been a huge right shift, right out to sea.

Hopefully the models won't keep flip flopping. I pray that Florida will be out of the woods from Ivan. Unfortunately, we in Florida are currently in the cone of terror :grrr: :grrr: :grrr: .... I mean "error".
