can you say miami... or tampa, or ft. myers, or melbourne, etc. IF ivan hits florida i don't know how this state will be able to handle it. here in west central fla, rivers are well above flood stage and will not crest for a day or two, retention ponds are failing, widespread power outages, no gas, grocery stores have limited stocks, have i missed anything? If Ivan hits anywhere in florida it will be a disaster of epic proportions.

A hit anywhere in Florida and the state will be practically decimated :(

For once, it looks like the trend actually *is* our friend.

It will probably jump back and forth, but for now, the trend is west. If it took that track, though, I do think E Central Cuba would take at least a little steam out of it.

if it starts going around Cuba and the tip of the Yucatan it becomes a concern for us. Its probably better that it comes here than if it hits Florida again.

no more anywhere in the SE! especially fla.

i have near flooding in my front and back yards from bonnie, charley, gaston, and now frances!!!

and i'm not in a mandatory flood (insurance) zone

go west, then south, then east, then north, and just die...i know IVAN IV (i.e. Ivan the Terrible) had a rough childhood...so maybe the same will hold true as the latest showed weakening

18Z GFS takes Ivan to the Yucatan Straights next Saturday, stalls it, then moves it to Tampa:

Going to be an interesting week.

Well, as long Ivan continues ripping westward at 20+ MPH, I don't see any reason that the model guidance won't continue to shift westward ... only until this thing slows down some, will we start to see an oscillation of the guidance ... IMHO ...
