Ivan only the 3rd major to hit Grenada?

#1 Postby ALhurricane » Tue Sep 07, 2004 6:58 pm

Just came across a neat page discussing hurricane climatology in Grenada. According to this page, only 2 category 3 hurricanes have come within 60 nm of Grenada... Janet in 1955 and Flora in 1963. That would make Ivan only the 3rd major hurricane to strike that close to Grenada.

Check the page out for yourself if you are interested...

I have heard before about 1963. From what I have heard, that is the last time this area had a hurricane warning. The national weather picture is sure changing.
