interesting hurricanes

#1 Postby air360 » Sun Sep 12, 2004 5:16 pm

just wanted to post two storm tracks i was looking at ....basically just saying that ANYTHING can happen and that sometime can look like its going to do one thing and then end up doing something else
the first one if the 4th hurricane from 1910..i know...a long time ago...but look at its track...its very interesting

http://weather.unisys.com/hurricane/atlantic/1910/4/track.gif

the second is a loop which ends in a different final location.... it is from 1953 and is hurricane alice...again...very interesting track...

im not trying to prove anything with these or make some forecast or anythign...just want to point out to everyone that almost anything can happen and that hurricanes can do crazy stuff and that we all need to be ready for anything
stay safe!

That's great info.
I have some questions though-sorry, very inquisitive tonight.
How can we really know what the tracks were?
We had no major technology for tracking like that in 1953, let alone 1910.
Just human observations can't be that accurate.

Thank you for posting those links. Those loops are very interesting...and sobering. I wonder what meteorological conditions led to those tracks?

tronbunny...i was wondering the EXACT same thing...i have no clue how they can go back and know what the exact tracks were...but they were posted as the official tracks...so i am just assuming they are accurate....either way..there are enough crazy hurricanes out there that we all know of to get my point across even without graphics:)
